Winter is now here and the Mayans were Wrong (...so far)
Who knows what this winter season will bring. It may be dry and cold, or snowy and cold. We know it will be cold. Or at least colder than we want. Route 29 remains in poor shape despite some minor road resurfacing during the Fall (only on some northbound sections of the vehicle lane - not the shoulder). Generally, 29 is a tough ride, but at least it's flat.

While the PA Bike Path was fully 'restored' as of the 2010 summer, the early Spring and late Summer Flooding during 2011 had reduced portions of it to an impassible state. It is best to have tires of 1.90" or wider to negotiate the PA path. Tire widths of 1.5" (35mm) or wider are recommended for the NJ Path for recreational riders. We still have no information on when (or if) the PA path will be refurbished once again.

During the Winter, expect very cold mornings with little to no significant warmup during the day. We could get lucky and have some mild days during January and February - it's happened before. Watch for icing conditions that can bring a bicycle down quite quickly. Winter Tights & Jackets coupled with layers, Vests, &/or Arm and Leg Warmers will keep the cold temperatures from slowing you down. There's always chemical warmers for those fingers and toes. Come see us for proper layering techniques to keep you warm without overheating if/when the day warms up.

The local Bike Clubs have a reduced schedule of rides during the Winter, but you can usually find something that suits your needs. See some of our ride possibilities on the "Rides" page. Check out the local Bike Club links there as well.

Current bike and accessory prices are rising yet again for the 2013 products. Rubber and aluminum specifically have had major price increases as raw materials over the past three seasons.

New Bikes
We carry a dazzling array of Giant, Electra, DK, Stolen and Van Dessel bikes for all levels of interest. Whether you're seeking comfort and recreational bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes, BMX or high-end racing models, we've got you covered.

Rentals
If you're in town on holiday and need a bike to explore the Path along the river, or want to venture inland, we always have a new fleet of 17 Giant Sport/Comfort bikes available in 2-hour, 4-hour, or 24-hour periods. Multi-day rentals are also available.

We sell off our new rental fleet after each season. Our current 2012 Fleet of $460 MSRP Sedonas (with installed accessories) are available for $299 (slightly used, with some minor "battle scars"). We additionally equip them with a: water bottle cage; bell; and flat sealant in both tubes. Our rentals are used for the 2012 rental season, cleaned & detailed, then released around mid/end-November. The (new) April claims period has already started - call or drop by to reserve your choice of bike. A $100 deposit (or payment in full) holds the bike(s) of your choice until we are through the rental season. These units come with Giant's full Warranty, as if sold as new. They also come with our Lifetime Free Adjustment benefit. These bikes go quick when available, so give us a call or stop by to determine the right bike (size, gender, color) for you. See the list of Available Rentals here

We also offer several high-end, carbon fibre, performance road bicycles for those who need the very best, or do not want to travel with (or ship) their personal uber-steed to the NJ area. Most folks supply their own pedals (to go with their shoes) and some even bring their favorite saddle. We'll set you up so you need not expose your bike to potential travel damage. We also have a soft-sided bike travel case available for rent. Call us for rental details.

Repairs
Our knowledgeable staff can get your bike in working order, whether you just need a flat fixed, a seasonal tune-up, or a major overhaul. No matter what brand bike you have, or where you bought it, we can usually fix it. All work is done on a first-come basis (we do not make appointments). Please note that we need to see and inspect a bike completely before we can offer an estimate. We are not able to offer anything other than a vague rough estimate over the phone. At times, other problems surface once the bike is in the repair stand or taken out for a test ride. We always call to discuss significant unforeseen costs before proceeding with a repair.

We do not limit our repair work to recent models or only bike we sell. We will attempt to repair or restore any bike. We'll give you our best estimate on the work needed and let you make the decision to proceed with all or some of the suggested work.

Bicycle Restoration
Do you have a Vintage Bike? A Classic Bike? A Collectible Bike? A bike with strong Sentimental Value? Your Childhood "Rosebud"? We can restore it to its best possible condition. While we do not perform repainting or re-chroming, we can debride, de-rust, clean and restore your ride to uncover its hidden beauty. Stop by and see our vintage 1973 Schwinn Apple Krate that underwent 60 hours of cleaning, detailing, and polishing. Restoration work is usually performed during the winter months when we have larger blocks of time to dedicate to this delicate process. Give us a call to schedule an evaluation and assessment of your bike, its needs, as well as your ultimate goals.

Gear
Helmets...clothing...gloves...pumps...lights...accessories. We've got everything you need so you can be outfitted from head to toe & wheel to wheel. Ride with safety in mind, but look good and feel good doing it!

Good Routes
We know this area well, and can help you find good places to ride. Check out our "Rides" page for more info.

Bike To Work
Save a bundle on gas money by riding a bike to work or shopping. We can set you up with everything you need to make the transition.

Also see the HART (Hunterdon Area Rural Transit) Commuter Information Services website for bike-to-work resources and their upcoming Bike To Work Week event! We have sponsored that event for the past 4 years, and continue to support the transportation objectives of HART.
